The Problem
Users with mental health struggles need to get motivated or feel more comfortable signing up to get the support that they need.
The Research
We conducted 5 user interviews asking users about their mental health, how did they cope, and motivators for betterment.
In our affinity map, we collected data from our user interviews and found 5 trends to start looking into:
People want to feel safe in the community! Previously, the website gave off a tone where it felt like a competitive environment.
Resources! Currently, Armor Boxing only provides in person events. There has to be a way for the users to receive support online.
Faith! Does the user have to be a christian in order to partake in these events?
How might we help our users and build traction for our client?
Lets dive deeper
In the competitive analysis, I searched how successful mental health organizations helped their users. We loved the resources tab that BetterHelp and Cerebral offered to their users. Due to BlueHosts constraints (Armor Boxing Website Builder), we could only use Cerebral as inspiration due to BetterHelps UI.
In the comparative analysis, I looked into event registration websites to see what could improve the clients registration funnel.
I created a task analysis to understand the happy path the user takes in order to gain access to Cerebrals resources. This way, we can design accordingly.
User Personas
The Redesign
We created a design system to for the client, so we know our constraints when it comes to designing.
We discovered in the user interviews that the tone of the website needed to be changed from “intimidating” to “welcoming”
On the landing page, we redesigned the content by not limiting the information section to stats.
We used the U.S. Air Forces pillars for resiliency to help our users by providing stats and informing how Armor Boxing can assist with their needs.
The resource page was non-existent until our competitive analysis.
We needed a way to provide value to the users on the site and not just the in-person events.
Providing mental health resources will support and inform the users during their struggles.
In the overall website we needed to change the tone from intimidating to welcoming.
Our users were confused because to them it seemed like a fight club.
We included 2 features to improve trust and resourcefulness.
Testimonials: Many of our users questioned wether it is a safe place or how the overall experience is. We believe testimonials from our members would further help them feel more comfortable of attending the events.
Speaker Log: Having a log of speaker where our users can connect and learn more through their content. This can serve as an extra source of resources when they are seeking help.
We added a donation button on the footer to show that our client is accepting donations.
Our client currently does not have a donation tab.
